Looking at a 1080 Sprint?
Here is where DynaSled fits.
Both put a number on resisted sprinting. They go about it in different ways, they suit different jobs, and they are bought differently. This page sets the two side by side so you can decide which one your program needs.
The short version: the 1080 Sprint is a motorised line device that can also assist the athlete. DynaSled is a friction sled, with a push handle or a tethered pull, that records horizontal force on every stride and is leased from US$199 a month.
How each one works
| 1080 Sprint 2 | DynaSled | |
|---|---|---|
| How resistance is made | A brushless motor with a speed controller, working through a line attached to the athlete. | Friction. A sled the athlete pushes or tows, loaded with standard plates. |
| Assisted (overspeed) sprinting | Yes. Assisted mode up to 14 m/s. | No. DynaSled is resisted work only. |
| Push drills | Works through a line. | Push handle or a tethered pull. |
| Resistance range | Gear 1: 25 kg continuous. Gear 2: 50 kg continuous. | 17 kg sled plus up to 100 kg of plates. |
| Different surfaces | Resistance is set by the motor. | DynaSled measures the friction on the day, so you can match the load from one surface or session to the next. |
| Run length | 120 m line as standard. | No line to run out. The sled travels with the athlete. |
| What it measures | Speed, force and power. | Horizontal force for each stride, velocity, and left against right. |
| Sample rate | 200 Hz. | 100 Hz. |
| Weight to carry | 25 kg unit. | 17 kg sled. |
| How you get one | By quote from 1080 Motion or its distributors. | Lease only. US$1,499 at signing, then US$199 a month from month 7, 24 months minimum. |
